6 Photo Editing Tips For Beginners

With these simple editing tips, your photos will be the envy of all your followers on social media.

The success of an image is based on capturing the perfect moment and applying the relevant adjustments to achieve a unique image. In today's post we propose some tips to edit your photos without the need for great editing skills, but enough to achieve good results.

Use the right design tool

Before getting down to work retouching a photograph, you will have to choose the design tool you want to work with. Today there are many mobile applications for this use and each one provides different functionalities. We recommend Photoshop Express, PicsArt, and VSCO.

Always work on the copy

An image can be considered a blank canvas to which you apply your creative powers. Whenever you decide to work on a photograph, make sure it is an image with potential.

It is important to create a copy of the original photograph in the editing program you are using. This step, although it may seem obvious, can save you from many. A mistake in retouching or a composition that does not convince you can ruin your image without the possibility of going back.

Frame the photograph

Even for the most professional, getting a perfectly adjusted image is difficult, and even more so if the elements are geometric or the composition includes many symmetries. It may be the case that the photograph has come out crooked or that you want to frame only detail and the zoom of your camera does not allow it. For these types of situations, design tools are the most feasible solution.

To frame an image or an element of an image you just have to use these systems: "Cut", "Rotate", "Rules", and "Straighten". In many applications or design tools, this type of adjustment is done automatically. iPhones, for example, have this system by default in the image gallery, so they will detect if a photograph is poorly framed and will exercise the necessary adjustment.

This type of system will also serve to eliminate unnecessary elements from the photograph using the "Clipping" or "Clone Stamp " tool. The latter is very useful in case you want to remove partial details from an image.

The importance of lighting

Light is a great protagonist in all photography. Therefore, you must pay special attention when taking capture. To improve the lighting in an image you will only have to modify the curve of exposure levels.

You can also manage the brightness, contrast, and white balance levels at will, and thus improve a photo where the exposure values are very high or very low. Regarding the white balance, it is only useful in case of having captured the image in RAW. If not, you will have to adjust it manually.

Blurs the background

This technique basically consists of highlighting one element of the image over the rest of the scene. It is applicable to portraits, still lifes, landscapes, etc. To use it, you will have to understand the depth of field, a photographic concept that refers to what will and will not be in focus in composition. The greater the depth of field, the more in focus the distant planes will appear, and the lower the depth, the more out of focus the background will be.

Until relatively recently, this effect was only possible through the use of special SLR cameras, but today, with the appearance of the dual lens in mobile phones, this is no longer necessary. However, if when editing a photograph you want to include this effect, there is the possibility of blurring the background easily with the "blur" tool.

Apply filters

Filters can improve an image, but it is important that you know that not all are adapted in the same way to all photographs. Therefore, the first question to ask yourself is: does the image really need filters? If the original image does not require these adjustments, do not include them, simply adjust the color, saturation, and brightness.

There are two categories of filters: warm filters that will give the image an orange or yellow hue, and cool filters that tend to blue tones. Each photograph supports one type of filter or another.

An application that gives very good results and is used by a large number of bloggers and Instagrammers is VSCO, which has a large number of free filters to give your image a new life. The most used are HB1 and HB2. We recommend that you do not use HDR filters on photos that have very high contrast, since they will give your image an artificial appearance.

For your convenience; If you think photo editing work wasting your time you can outsource your service from others. I know Clipping Path Studio is one of the best photo editing agency, many photographers are getting service from them!
